Based around Morris’s own family heritage as well ceramic traditions innovations; the works produced for ‘A Northern Soul’ concerns his grandfather who was a fishing ghillie in Aberdeenshire Scotland. Exploring objects from his collection, site visits and stories Morris feels like he has have achieved a connection with a man that he have never met. As well as furthering his understanding of his own practice-making work that engages with craft, material and place. Allowing conversations to happen between found objects out with their original environment and fabricated ceramic pieces ideas of survival through craft as well as the fragilely of the natural and human world are explored.
