Lifting its title from a subordinate clause in a popular game manual, 'if any, before' is an exhibition of new works by Francis Caballero, Tim Dalzell and Caitlin Merrett King - recent graduates from The Glasgow School of Art and recipients of The Phoenix Bursary. The artists share a spontaneous approach to making and a focus on hyper-real representations and simulations of the everyday.

'if any, before' is the final exhibition presented by The Telfer Gallery at our Merchant City location on Miller Street. In September 2015, The Telfer Gallery will open a new ground floor, public facing gallery space in the heart of the Barras Market in the immediate East End of Glasgow. The new gallery space is part of a wider capital development project led by MANY Studios CIC and is supported by the Barras Vacant and Underused Floorspace Grant Scheme, Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government.

Since 2012, The Telfer Gallery has presented new work from local, national and international artists. As well as showcasing recent graduates from The Glasgow School of Art, we have exhibited international artists such as Yuri Pattison (London), recently selected for British Art Show 8, and Elizabeth Corkery (Boston). We have facilitated residencies and collaborated with Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) and Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) as well as curating projects for Edinburgh Arts Festival 2013, Annuale 2013 & 2014 and Glasgay Festival 2013.

In summer 2015 we will present a specially commissioned event by Abigale Neate Wilson, in collaboration with Scottish Book Trust, for Edinburgh Art Festival 2015 and present a curated selection of work by emerging artists at The Manchester Contemporary 2015.
