Director: Allison Gibbs. France/Lithuania/Scotland 2014, 32mins
Allison Gibbs’ new film is the result of an exploration on the possibilities of becoming extra-sensory. Based in part on research conducted with the Development Circle for Radical Subjectivity in France, which Gibbs founded with the purpose of informing the film, and utilising recordings made at the Development Circles meetings, the film shows the group’s journey as they attempt to reclaim their extra-senses and reach a higher state of consciousness. An intriguing experiment, Our Extra-Sensory Selves examines the reliability of our senses, and raises questions as to the possibility, and utility, of applying our extra-senses to a larger social and political context. Allison Gibbs will be present for a Q&A after the screening.
