The third annual exhibition of selected work from The Glasgow School of Art’s Degree Show, to be shown in the Burgh Hall, Dunoon. The exhibition will include both Fine Art and Design, and aims to bring the work to an audience who might not normally encounter it. This year’s show is a conscious effort to provide a visual space for reflection on the events that have affected the entire GSA community over the past weeks in the aftermath of the fire. At the same time, it celebrates the resilient spirit of the graduates as they continue to make their mark beyond the physical boundaries of the art school itself.
The exhibition also features a digital slideshow of images submitted by each student from the final year in Fine Art, which was recently presented at the showcase in Glasgow’s McLellan Galleries. A 216 page limited edition book of the showcase will be available for purchase. All profits from the book go directly to final year Fine Art students from the 2014 show to help them rebuild their practice following the fire at the Mackintosh Building at the end of May.
‘GSA in Dunoon 2014’ is followed by ‘Mackintosh School of Architecture in Dunoon 2014’, 8-31 August, Preview Friday 8 August, 6-7.30pm.
